i'm not trying to defend anyone's actions including mine, but i can certainly see how many of us feel anger.... my father is a sucessful business man, loved in the community by the "worldly" and the jws alike; he's also very logical in almost everyway until we talk about the witnesses.
becasue he's so chrismatic, he's played a role in converting almost everyone in the family-i'm irish so it's one darn big family, into being devout jws.
when i think about how much i love my dad, and my family and couple that with the fact that the only beef we have with one another is the fact that i see through the gb lies; it makes me mad that the love i once felt will never be there again becasue of this division.
Interesting! I picked up on the word chrismatic. I know you love your dad but chrismatic personalities as far as I am concern means manipulating others with a smile,talks more than others at get togethers, and will put people down if they get in his way of attention!

she told me she got the sack a week ago because her boss didn't agree with my mum being a jehovah's witness and that she lets 'children die' because of the no blood rules.
Ask your mom questions? Thinking questions about the bible! If she has the WT volumes than do research, an example is Michael the Archangle as Jesus. Make it fun without arguing. Find something and start slow and due research! Build your question on each research material. She will think you are smart and it will make you close to her! Ask her question not to get into arguments but to make her think! Also, let her do some research for you so she will need to show you! It's all about the bible study thing! But you will have more facts, lol because you are here!
If your mom believes it is the truth and that is why she is hanging in there because she dedicated her life to Jehovah. But what if she dedicated her life to the WTBTS and it was based on false doctrines? She would go into shock but will she forget? NO!
Believe it or not, Jehovah's Witness families marks mothers and fathers who allow their children to associate with others! So your mom probably does not understand that she really is marked by the other JDUBS. Otherwise no matter what she does she will not be accepted by the JDUBS! I watched many people think they were okay with the group but not really!

we did not swallow the new light theory at all but it did get me thinking.
lets presume jws are right and they claim to be inspired by god what does that say about god?is it just a game for him they must be having a ball in heaven changing the rules halfway through a game even if jws were right i would not want to be part of a god that does that.i was raised a jw and to be honest i enjoyed it for me it was a great way of life but there comes a time when in good faith you can not justify to yourself that it is the truth never held any hatred for jws until i left and then i saw them in a different light they by they i mean my family have put all there energy into applying there love towards me by shunning me my wife and there 5 grandchildren as ive said if god is dirrecting them then i dont want anything to do with there god.
this new light will have little or no effect on jws all thats left is rank and file who if by now havnt left never will and new converts who have no idea what used to preach.
I have gone to other religions and my JW left side of the brain does not cope with Trinity! Why? because that is one of the most long lived written about and debated topic since 325 AD. Okay I might be off a few years!
I was raised as a JW, and they sort of twisted it even more by writing the Trinity brochure which compares the tri-unity God with false gods of the world! Anyhow, I have read theology books about the topic as well as Catholic study books, and watchd interviews on t.v. I can tell you most religions view points on Trinity is not how the JW teach it. There are a least three different views about the trinity! It is very complicated to understand! I do not believe that Jesus is Jehovah God! but will he be called mighty God? Yes!
Ok so ask yourself, Was Jesus ever going to be called Mighty God? or was he going to be called Mighty Michael? LOL that funny! See, you will find Wt that states, "Most people who do not believe that Jesus is Michael believes he is Jehovah God!"
Anyhow, all Christian religions have false doctrines because they are man made religion using the bible for a guide point! so does the law of the England and USA. Both Laws and Christianity want to help others and protect society. At least the bible gives us guides to live by and that is probably what you noticed and liked growing up! I bet growing up, you knew that the other childern were trust worthy nor did drugs. That families tried to live their lives by certain rules such as not lying or smoking.
As far as the light growing brighter! it's your choice to do what is right(see the book of Kings) not according to your rules but Gods if you believe in him. And God was very merciful to his people during anytime so he will be for us! Choose God!
You can pick any religion a part go through their history and find errors! That's the facts! The WTBTS afer the ones I grew up and believed to be true so I expected more from them! At least truths. As far as getting disfellowshipped it hard but that was the rule when I got baptized. I no longer follow that rule but Gods.
As far as your parents speaking to a child molester or wife basher over you, have you tried to talk with your parents about how you feel? You sound like a nice person, your not on drugs and that is doing what is right! You are making good choices for your life!
If your parents are not wanting to talk with you, find some nice couple who will treat you like their daughter! make sure that they are stable people!

Not only that, but what is the "do this" that is being commanded here? Jesus wasn't talking about having a meeting once a year where they merely pass around emblems and have a public talk about the 144,000 and "great crowd". As Paul points out, "as long as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes again". How many JWs who solemnly gather together in his name actually "do this"?
Good point Leo, remind me how many times did Jesus command the people in order to have eternal life? I think it was five times! Jesus stressed how important partaking was and what it represented, eternal life. If I remember Jesus was the manna that came from heavens! Although he was speaking to the multitude, a jewish person replied. Your above post about Paul's congregation, proves that it was for the entire congregation and not just for a few, 144,000!
I guess I need to laugh when the WTBTS twist it to be only the first 144,000 who partook in Paul's congregation! Prior to Paul, Jesus proved it was a mixed mulitude! Great crowd!

as some of you are aware i am in the early stages of doubting the wts as the only channel of truth.however i am assailed by feelings of guilt.am i being seduced by the words of disgruntled witnesses or ex-witnesses or am i truly doubting !
!maybe some of you felt this way in the early stages of your "defection" from the wts.sometimes i feel as though i am rejecting god and his organization but other times i feel so strongly that the wts has misled me and is acting to control my "loyalty" by vieled threats of destruction at armageddon.you see prior to becoming a jw i had no religious affiliations.i knew nothing about the bible or god.so for 20 yrs i have only known watchtower teachings and un-learning 20yrs of this is making me so indesicive.am i doing the right thing or not ?
my only solace is prayer.i have prayed to god to show me in some way what the truth really is.i must admit that these prayers have been the most heartfelt i have ever said.have others felt this way and if so how did they deal with it ?i would truly appreciate some feedback.

YOUR POST IS VERY HONEST HEARTED! AND RIGHT ON TO MY FEELINGS! Here an example; Is it God organization, am I being manipulated by people who are aganist the WTBTS, perhaps it is satan! Should I be on this site? I was warned to stay awary from here. Perhaps my reasearch is wrong maybe they are right! We were so trained to think this way! It gets easier if you do research which solves all these kinds of doubts! Make sure of all things!
I was raised a JW and even though I was disfellowshipped I still thought it was Jehovah's organization. I even thought it was when I was reinstated! I still go through the denial stage and shock! Also, if you have family and friends that are in this organization it makes it worse, the threat of lost of love ones. It is like they all died!
Your are right where you should be, and what you are feeling is right on. But hang in there! The cure is finding what you think is truth and do your research. I did a lot of research with the WTBTS own books. Here you can gleam other people's research, but you will probably still need to verify that people are posting the truth! Because you can always fall back into denial which you will! LOL
You will feel better when it comes from the bible and you know the WTBTS is wrong according to God's word.
But what are you going to do after you find out the truth about the truth? It will forever change your life, or the fantasy, so seek counseling and get involved in activities so you can meet new friends. With time you can put it behind you!
the stress in the day to day scenario for a jehovah witnesses trying to live their life through the wtbts is the same that cause them to work harder until they either work even harder, fade away, or suffer a mental breakdown.
fear of reproof or divine punishment from jehovah, not love for jesus, grips their day to day activities as they feel they must fulfill their duties of preaching and attending meeting.
many who came into the organization in the 90s; came in due to the friendliness of the people and not the reality of the cult.
